This is your Wake Up Call!

Romans 13:11-14 (MSG)
But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about!

As Christians, daily we find ourselves toggling between two worlds, Earth, and our true home the Kingdom of God.  In earth, we are constantly bombarded with images, activities and agendas that, if we are not careful, can take our mind and emotions off our true assignment ... making God known.

This holiday season, as we look forward with eager anticipation to the celebration of Christmas, and hold dear in our hearts the promised return of our King; let us not grow weary in our well doing, and in choosing God's way over our own.  Let us not become absorbed in the gimme, gimme, mentality of Earthlings, or be consumed with their what about me mentality.  But instead, each day, Wake Up not just physically but spiritually, clothe yourself in Christ, and go about doing that which is pleasing in His sight.

To God Be The Glory

The weeks of Advent remind us to set aside some time during the holiday season to reflect on our faith. The Bible readings we will read echo the Advent themes of waiting, preparation, hope, and the coming of the promised Messiah.
